My Little Doll

Favorite Things two days in a row? Ding ding ding, you've hit the jackpot.
For those of you who don't know me, I have a two and a half year old little boy. When I first found out I was having a little man on that magical 20 week ultrasound, I didn't know what to think. Sure, I loved the idea of playing with a rough and tumble little boy, digging outside in the dirt. But how would I dress him?! Let's face it, boy clothes sometimes just aren't as FUN as sparkly pink and purple girls clothes. It took me awhile  to figure it out, but now I think I have one of the cutest dressed little men in the central Nebraska area (humble brag). I'd like to highlight one of my favorite designers:
Wes and Willy

I have a slight preoccupation with dressing Jake in "seasonal" clothing- he has t-shirts for every major US holiday. I love to find really cute Easter, Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving shirts...and the motherlode of all holidays, Christmas. Enter Wes and Willy, a fabulous BOYS ONLY clothing designer from my beloved Homaha. Check out these adorable shirts:

Wes and Willy can be found at many online retailers, local favorite Von Maur, and the fabulous D. Diff boutique in North Platte (post about that coming soon!). If you have a little boy, do yourself a favor and check out this adorable line of clothes.

Sweatpant leggings! Who knew?!

In keeping with Julie's theme, I am adding one of my NEWEST FAVORITE THINGS!

My good friends know my mantra: (stolen from the show, Project Runway).

"It's a slippery slope into sweatpants and a minivan".

Now I am no "real housewife".  But I AM a firm believer  that just because you're a wife and mother, does not mean you have permission to turn into Honey Boo Boo's mom.

No.... You do not have to be the high maintenance freak I am.  However, some self dignity is a good thing.

Building on my mantra, I will say that I am a big fan of great fitting jeans, funky leggings, and killer skirts.

The other day, I am perusing the local boutique when I find a pair of leggings that look SUPER comfy.  So I decide to try these super sweet, chocolate colored leggings on.

"Whaty what whaty what?!?!", I say.

"These suckers feel like SWEATPANTS!!!  But they look like 'BUTTA'!  GENIUS!"

Introducing:  K Bell fleece lined leggings!

The sweatpants designed for wanna be real housewives for me!  Comfort AND style.  The perfect gift for the perfect woman in your life!

It's Julie again, back again with another one of my Favorite Things. It's not a food item (surprise!) but it's a discovery I made a few years ago. It's a skincare brush called the Clarisonic.
I don't have five of them, just one

The Clarisonic is a sonic face cleaner that feels like a little microdermabrasion every time you wash your face. You splash some water on your face, put your cleanser on and then use the Clarisonic. The brush oscillates something like 300 times a second (wha?!) and leaves you with a very clean feeling. I'm not gonna lie, the first few times I used it I felt like a took a sandblaster to my face. But after that, my face felt smooth as butter. My pore sized reduced and my face just felt amazing. Now if I don't Clarisonic by 9 AM in the morning I start getting a little twitchy.
"Must...clean...face...NOW!"

Recently Clarisonic came out with a brush for the feet. It sounds amazing and it is on my holiday wish list.

Thanks for reading another one of my Favorite Things posts!

Ahoy Hoy!

Hello everyone! Caroline has graciously invited me to be part of her fabulous blog because a) I'm too lazy to start my own and b)I love cows AND couture too! And I love my dear friend Caroline also. She has made Central Nebraska feel like home to me.
Freezing our buns off at the charity shoot
What cemented the friendship between us? Well, many things. But I was say the one thing we have in common is love of FOOD. Caroline and I can eat like two long haul semi drivers at a late night buffet. We discovered a mutual love of club sandwiches early in our friendship. But the one thing that has really brought together:

THE NOTHING BUNDT CAKE
I discovered these tasty little treasures a couple of years ago when they opened a bakery in my hometown of Omaha. At first, I was like, "there's no way this place will make it! JUST bundt cakes?! NOTHING bundt cakes?!?"
Then I tried a white white chocolate. Oh my.
The cake is very moist (ew I hate that word) and the cream cheese frosting is absolutely decadent. They have many flavors such as lemon (Caroline's fave), chocolate chocolate chip, red velvet, marble (my favorite). And look how cute they decorate them for special occasions:

Anytime I'm in Omaha (which is quite often...can't take the city outta the girl!), I text Caroline and see what she wants. Usually she orders a few bundtlets and I'm more than happy to pick them up. Then we arrange a pickup/drop off, sorta like a drug deal, more of like a bundt deal. After that we usually lament about how delicious the cakes were and how we should open a franchise in central Nebraska (yeah right). BUT they did just open a location in Lincoln, which means bundt deliciousness is only 80 miles away. Two points for central Nebraska!
As part of my contribution to this blog, I'd love to share with you some of my favorite things. I live for Oprah's Favorite Things at the end of every year and quite often think, "hmm I have quite a few favorite things of my own!" So my first favorite thing...Nothing Bundt Cakes!
